About the exhibition

The exhibition

The exhibition was designed by IMAGINARY as part of the accompanying project BeLIFE, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space. It is inspired by six innovative research projects focused on civil security.

All exhibits are licensed under open licenses. The interactive stations are:

  • An interactive map with different scenarios that require building a situational picture to solve each challenge.
  • A video game where communication and coordination help the players reach an emergency as quickly as possible.
  • A busy-picture puzzle to spot the details and piece together the recovery efforts after a flood.
  • A game about equipping characters with the skills and resources they need to take an active part in emergencies.
  • An immersive interactive-fiction game about evacuation and the feelings it stirs up.

Research

The exhibition is inspired by six innovative research projects for civil security.

  • ADLeR

    Rethinking the Rescue Chain

In Dortmund, ADLeR is developing and testing a solution that automatically detects and reports emergencies and fires. The goal is to ensure that the rescue chain operates smoothly, regardless of the capabilities of those involved or the nature of the emergency.

  • BeLIFE

SifoLIFE Accompanying Research: Ensuring Effectiveness and Sustainability in Practice

The BeLIFE accompanying project transfers insights from the SifoLIFE projects to where they are needed most: to practice. It connects relevant stakeholders and fosters a two-way exchange of knowledge. This allows successfully tested concepts for crisis prevention and management to be transferred to other municipalities.

  • KriKom-LK-MEI

Crisis Communication in the District of Meißen

The KriKom project is developing and testing an independent communication system for use in crises and disasters. The system helps to collect, process, and share relevant information quickly and reliably, even when conventional communication channels are unavailable or the power is down for an extended period.

  • LifeGRID

Life-Saving in Flood- and Power-Critical Hazardous Situations Through the Implementation of Isolated Solutions Within the Framework of Public Services

The Wesermarsch district is testing concepts to improve the rescue and support of care-dependent people during emergencies and disasters. Alongside technical solutions, the project focuses on education, effective crisis communication, and the registration and training of care services and caregivers.

  • RESCUE-MATE

Dynamic Situation Mapping and Support for Rescue Workers in Complex Crises Using Data Fusion and Intelligent Drone Swarms

In Hamburg, a dynamic situational awareness and assessment system is under development. The system is designed to help emergency services better orient themselves and evaluate conditions in crisis and disaster situations. A digital data platform bundles various data sources and makes the information visible. This can also be used for (flood) simulations.
